Scandinavian Rag Rug

Deb at loom As long as I remember I have loved rugs. My grandmother's oriental rugs were the first to intrigue me with their colorful patterns. I have made a variety of rugs for the last 27 years, shirred rugs, braided rugs and for the past 14 years, crocheted rag rugs. Six years ago I began weaving rugs and that is now my main focus since retiring my teaching position. I love working with the material and putting the color combinations together. I make use of the excess materials from textile mills, cotton, rayon and wool mill ends and selvedges, unwanted blue jeans and fabric remnants to weave on my floor looms. I weave beautiful rugs on my historic looms, a 4 harness Newcomb Studio loom and a 2 harness Union loom previously owned by a Korean War Veteran for physical therapy. Re-cycling this material makes total sense, from surplus to home d├ęcor in Historic Keystone. They are a warm comforting addition to any home. We still use the first rugs I made 20 years ago.
Woven in the beautiful Black Hills of South Dakota, these rag rugs are machine washable whether wool, cotton or rayon. The more you wash and dry them, the better they get. Custom orders are welcome as we can accommodate many color schemes. Green Wool Rug
